The 2017 Canada Summer Games is a multi sport inter-provincial competition that will see the nations best young athletes compete against one another across 30 different sports in Winnipeg, Manitoba The ARA recognizes the significance of these games and with the opening ceremonies now only 12 months has begun to take steps to prepare our U20 athletes (Athletes born in 1997 or later) for these games. With this in mind the ARA is looking to assist athletes in attending the 2016 Royal Canadian Henley Regatta who meet certain erg deliverables.
As was communicated to all athletes who attended the CSG camp in Leduc, Alberta on May 27, 2016 athletes expecting to garner an invite to the ARA’s 2017 CSG selection camp must meet an erg deliverable. The deliverables are as follows:
Heavyweight Men 6:30 / Heavyweight Women 7:30
Lightweight Men 6:50 / Lightweight Women 7:50
To assist age eligible CSG athletes in attending the 2016 Royal Canadian Henley Regatta the ARA is offering a $200 subsidy to athletes who come within 5 seconds of the aforementioned deliverable. To be eligible for the subsidy the ARA will only consider erg tests pulled in the Province of Alberta between June 1, 2016 and July 25, 2016. The Head Coach of one’s respective club must monitor the score and results must be emailed to albertarowing@gmail.com no later than July 27, 2016. Athletes not attending the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta will not be eligible for funding regardless or whether or not they meet the deliverable.
