A Holiday Poem
Twas the night before Christmas and all around the boats
The ergs were a humming under the eye of Coach Nokes
The shells were slung on the stretchers with care
In hopes that St. Nick could somehow repair.
Another erg done my stomach was queasy.
And as for my lungs, well they were wheezy.
I got ready to leave and put on a toque.
My legs were done, they needed to recoup.
When all of a sudden there rose such a clatter
I grabbed an oar before pursuing the matter
When what to my weary eyes should appear
The ARA Executive smiling from ear to ear.
Another strong year with four medals at NRC’s
And a group of coaches with plenty of expertise.
And if that wasn’t reason enough to cheer
13 Alberta athletes who represented Canada this year.
But they spoke not a work for 2019 was now days away
And a whole new set of opportunities and challenges to weigh.
The ARA is aware that expectations are high
With athletes like you who reach for the sky.
ARA Executive
