CSG UPDATE
To date, the ARA has invited 24 athletes to the 2017 CSG Selection Camp to be held in Calgary, Alberta on June 2,3 and 4 2017. Athletes who have not been invited as of yet, have until May 31, 2017 to hit the requisite 2K erg standard to garner an invite. The standards in case anyone may have forgotten are as follows:
Heavy Men – 6:30
Light Men – 6:50
Heavy Women – 7:30
Light Women – 7:50
As we approach the on-water season, the ARA encourages all CSG prospective athletes to spend as much time in singles in pairs in the month of May. The erg may get you an invite to the selection camp but final selection to the CSG Team is based on one’s performance in smaller boats. Further details on the June selection camp will be distributed to eligible athletes come mid-May.
ARA Erg Champs
The ARA would like to thank the Central Alberta Rowing Club for all their efforts in hosting the 2017 ARA Erg Championships. With over 180 registered athletes the ARA is confident that this years event was the largest in this writers time. It was only a few short years ago where ARA struggled to get 90+ athletes registered for the event. The level of interest in our sport throughout Alberta is very encouraging and is a testament to the quality of volunteers, coaches and officials that are found all across this province. Results from the event have been distributed to your coaches. Should you wish to obtain a copy of the results please get in touch with them.
We look forward to seeing you at the 2018 event where we hope to see over 200 registrants.
