Canada Summer Games Update
- The Canada Summer Games Selection Camp will be held in Calgary, Alberta from Friday June 17th through to Sunday June 19th.
- Attendance at the camp is by invite only. Formal invites have been distributed to athletes who have met the requisite erg deliverable. To those who have been successful in hitting this standard…Congratulations!
- All invited athletes should have information on how the camp will unfold and as well a preliminary schedule of events. Further updates will be forthcoming as the date approaches.
- Athletes who have not met the standard by June 11th but have shown marked improvement in their technique and are within target of the erg deliverable may still be eligible for an invite to the selection camp. These invites are at the discretion of the ARA. Athletes who fall into this category will be notified of their status to attend the selection camp on June 12th.
- To date 12 men and 12 women have met the erg deliverable. In addition, the ARA knows of a number of athletes who are within a few seconds of the erg standard with nearly 1 week remaining to hit the mark.
- While erg performance is a requirement for an invite– final selection to the team is based solely on one’s performance in a single and or a pair. Details on how selections will proceed have been delivered to your respective coach and athletes should now be fully informed. The season has just begun and already Alberta athletes are starting to make their mark. Some of the highlights from this first month are:
- Four Alberta athletes have been formally invited to compete for spots on the U23 National Team. Final selection to the team will be determined later this month.
- Three additional Alberta athletes are competing for spots to represent Canada at the 2022 World Rowing Championships
- Alberta Clubs are busy preparing for the on-water regatta season with the first regatta of the calendar year slated to be the 2022 Alberta Open in Calgary, Alberta.
