Alberta Athletes Named to National Squads

Under 23 National Team
Women’s Four – Nicole Hare – Calgary Rowing Club

This year’s 2015 World Rowing U23 Championships are taking place in Plovdiv, Bulgaria from July 22-26.
Following an intensive selection process, Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) has assembled a large team to travel to Europe this summer. A total of seven crews, comprised of 24 athletes from across the country, have been nominated to the squad.

 

Rowing Canada Team for the CanAmMex
Women’s Quad – Aline Belzil (Edmonton Rowing Club)

Aline will compete in the women’s quad and the Edmonton Rowing Club’s Head Coach, Ali Williams, will be the Women’s Sculling Coach at this regatta. The CanAmMex regatta is held annually with hosting rotated between Canada, the United States and Mexico. Mexico City will play host this year for the regatta that is taking place July 6-11.

Women’s Four- Beth McConnell got her start rowing at ERC – currently attending UVic
Women’s Four – Jessie Loutit got her start at CRC – currently attending UWO

This summer, Canadian University’s most talented rowers will represent Canada at the FISU Games in Gwangju, South Korea, July 3 to 14, 2015. The 2015 Universiade is a multisport event in which rowing has been a part since 1984. This year the regatta will take place on Chungju Tangeum Lake, site of the 2013 World Rowing Championships.
