June Monthly Bulletin

2019 WESTERN CANADA SUMMER GAMES

Formal invites have been distributed to prospective athletes requesting their attendance at the 2019 WCSG Selection Camp in Calgary, Alberta on June 21, & 22, 2019.  To those of you who received an invite.  Congratulations!  The standard to attend this year’s selection camp was aggressive and to make it thus far in the selection process is an achievement in itself.   All invited athletes should have information on how the camp will unfold as well as a preliminary schedule of events.  Further updates will be forthcoming as the date approaches.

To those of you who did not garner an invite, the WCSG is a small step in the development process.  Some of Alberta’s most successful athletes over the past 8 years were those who failed to make the WCSG Team only to return and win multiple medals at Canada Games and represent our country at the World Championships.

Lakeland Development Camp

The writer is extremely pleased to be coaching at the 2019 Lakeland Development Camp in Vermilion, Alberta.  The camp as has been communicated is an excellent opportunity for athletes of all ages and abilities to come together for a weekend or rowing in one of the most beautiful settings in Western Canada.  This years’ camp is scheduled for the weekend of July 13 and 14.  Registration details for the camp can be found by following the link http://albertarowing.ca/news/development-camp-save-the-date/
