2010 Canadian University Rowing Championship

The University of Calgary Rowing Club made history at these championships. Jessie Loutit and Brittney Szwarc won the school’s first ever medal in the fourteen year history of this event; a silver in the woman’s pair. In addition, for the first time since the introduction of this event in 1997, the U of C registered crews in all 12 events.

Not to be outdone, the University of Alberta Rowing Club continued their strong tradition at this event with three crews/ boats racing in “A” finals. George Kostaras finished 5 th in the Lightweight Men’s Single, Nicole Barbeau finished in 6 th in the Lightweight Women’s Single and Frederik Norberg and Alistair Sarahs were 6 th in the Men’s Pair.

And for those keeping score. The University of Alberta finished in 8 th place, ahead of the University of Calgary who finished 9th in the overall Men’s Team standings. In the Women’s Team standings, the order was reversed with the University of Calgary finishing in 8 th place and the University of Alberta finishing 12 th . Congrats to both programs.
